Cells are subspherical to oval in outline, 7.6-13.2 µm long, 6.0-9.5 µm wide, and with two flagella. The length of ordinary coccoliths is 1.1— 2.4 µm, with a length/breadth ratio of 1.0—1.4, and number of lamellae (20-33) in the peripheral ring of the central area. Polar coccoliths are present at both poles, with a maximum spine length of approximately 10 µm.
